IPv6 Network from CoreLink
What is IPv6?
IPv6 evolved from IPv4, the current standard on which all Internet traffic is based. The transition from IPv4 to IPv6 will address IPv4's insufficient Internet Protocol (IP) address space and other limitations.
It is estimated that approximately half of the 4.3 billion IP addresses in existence under IPv4 are currently unused, claimed by ISPs who are primarily located in the United States. It is estimated that the shrinking pool of IP addresses available under IPv4 will soon be exhausted.
The scarcity of addresses will be further strained by the continued growth of PC penetration, as well as IP address dependent devices such as mobile phones, PDAs, next-generation Internet devices and other mobile devices.
CoreLink’s transition to an IPv6 network provides increased flexibility to our customers, as well as:
- Efficient networks and greater interoperability
- Process for networks to exchange traffic within an IPv6 environment
